Damn it. My suit-carrying suitcase seems to have contracted some kind of mold, and has a big hole in it. I will not be taking it to California with me.

And the drive to and from my office really isn't much faster than the T, which is pretty funny.

Woe.

And the drive to and from my office really isn't much faster than the T, which is pretty funny.

That's because you work in the city. I bet the drive to your office is slower than the drive to mine, even thoough mine is much farther away. I can usually make it in 30 minutes in the morning, because I'm doing 60 or 70 most of the way.

[livejournal.com profile] harrock's also mentioned that the drive to work isn't much faster than the T either. But we're a bunch closer to the T than you, whereas your streets go in less stupid directions than ours do. :)

Well, that's reassuring in that it means public transportation actually makes sense.

Out here, public transportation is slower and more expensive than driving almost all of the time. It seems like the only reason people ever take BART or the train is either because they're tree huggers or because they hate traffic that much. I guess companies pay for employees' tickets sometimes too.

And, of course, I'm talking about here in suburbia. Up in the city, I'm sure it makes more sense.

If I lived in San Francisco near a CalTrain stop (and this is admittedly a pretty restrictive condition), it would usually be faster for me to take the train to work then to drive. Especially during rush hour. Especially if I rode the express train. Plus I could read on the train.

when I was in berkeley for the summer, going to into SF for class every day, I always took bart - because there was no all day parking in the city that wasn't ultra expensive. of course, I was living a minute from a bart stop, so maybe that helped. and being able to do other things on the commute was a definite plus
