Something old, Something New
May. 6th, 2018 11:09 pmStill not updating regularly. Part of it is just not checking dreamwidth much, given the relative paucity of people here compared to elsewhere. Part of it is being hosed. I'll be sad if I give it up entirely, though, I find the records of what I did when useful.
Still, not going to try to recreate day-by-day report for three weeks. Diet and exercise have been sucking. Work has been busy, but I've mostly stayed on top of it. Standard hobbies proceed apace: We overthrew the Erlenana's (Auria), defeated a Sign of Toro and survived a fight with Kali, leaving the North for another day (Dragon), made it through July and August in Pandemic Legacy Season 2, Continue unraveling the Operative's handiwork (Torino), nearly got killed by Skavin (Warhammer) and got a little further in Return to The Tomb of Horrors (Conflux).
Don't think I've been to any plays? Last one was Anna Christie, at the Lyric, which was pretty hopelessly dated, in a "You really can't do the Taming of the Shrew anymore" kind of way. (It wasn't about a shrew, but it was full of toxic gender stereotypes and behaviors.) Oh, and I saw Love, Simon with the gladhander. It was fine, and the representation was nice, I guess, but I wasn't as impressed as he was. And the villain of the piece (and the hero of the piece) get let off the hook too easily, I felt like. Maybe that is not actually fair, as they both take some hits, but... it felt that way on watching it.
Played my only guild game of the school year, Miskatonic Valley High School prom, which was fun and amusing, but did not make me particularly desire to make more time for guild games than I've been making. It meant I didn't entirely miss my 30th anniversary in the Guild, though, so that was nice.
This weekend was Roast(-ish, given that Haus is gone), but all I managed to make was the lighting replacement (a 6 pm Friday march down the Infinite with sport death banners and stuff). I spent the rest of the weekend at Port Katherine, a new larp run by some WW players and organized by the same parent company. 18th century nautical magi-tech, a new colony in the wild untamed wilderness, trying to develop new sources of the fuel for all our magical technology. It was definitely fun, I'm not quite sure yet if it's actually the right game for me. We'll see.
There was probably other stuff, but that's all I've got right now.
