Aussie Invasion!
Sep. 14th, 2009 12:30 amWork was quiet, as the secretary was out two days and the other associate was on his honeymoon all week. I got some stuff done, but not as much as I should have, and went in today and caught up some. Other stuff:
Tuesday: Auria! Our Nefarious Troll Hunting Plan continues to be a great success. Our Mad Marriage Plan is still iffy, but we did get handed a lever that might work to move one of the two people we want to marry off in the right direction. We'll see if we can figure out how to apply it after spending a month or so on his boat, hunting pirates! After, very brief stop at VBL.
Wednesday: Kiss Me Kate, at the Lyric. I was unimpressed with this show when MTG did it. The Lyric did it well enough that the performances patched over many of the iffy bits of the plot, and I liked it, although the T ride home was mostly about talking over the lack of coherent plot. The songs are pretty much all tunes you can hum, that stick in your head later, and the characters are mostly amusing bits of shtick, even if there's no depth to them. It has the whole "The Taming of the Shrew can't actually be done for modern audiences" problem, though. Call it 8 days of game before getting gacked by the gangsters under false pretenses.
Thursday: GM meeting. First regular weekly one, since people were scattered all over the place over the summer. Went fine.
Friday: First night of Australians: dinner at Diva. After went to The Big Lebowski at LSC with the MBA, and ran into a bunch of 4th WAR kids. I'd never seen it before, and now see why it has a cult following, although I don't think I will be joining the cult. There's several funny bits, although the Dude is a little too blank a protagonist for me. Lives 8.5 days of game before dying of a heart attack.
Saturday: Not much. Was thinking about going to a movie with Germany, but he was sick, so we canceled. But we didn't cancel until late enough that I mostly just sat around the house until dinner with the Australians. This time with special guest stars
firstfrost and
harrock. At some pretty good Chinese place in Medford Square that I'd never been to before.
Sunday: Spent most of the day at work, then dinner with the Australians at Christopher's, then home to work on game and play starcraft.
