Vacations are over, time to get back to work. Tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. Especially the getting up on time part, sigh.

California seemed to go more quickly than previous weeks there have. I think part of it is that the kids are older, and much less time gets spent looking after/entertaining them. But in general there was less happening during the day, and mostly just evenings were exciting. I suppose it also wasn't X-mas, so I wasn't running around doing last minute shopping, either. I also read a bunch, so [livejournal.com profile] skuffle should remind me to do another set of book reviews sometime soon-ish.

Tuesday: Lunch with [livejournal.com profile] countertorque, then went by to wish Sister-in-Law happy birthday in the afternoon, then hung around at home in the evening.
Wednesday: Went and walked around the Stanford Golf Course with Dad and [livejournal.com profile] bakedweasels and some friends of Dad's. Apparently Condi Rice was playing just behind us for a while. Then board games with bakedweasels and countertorque and [livejournal.com profile] ricedog, in which I won Power Grid by the unusual method of taking first place and holding it for the entire game. (Normally being in first is enough of a disadvantage that people hold back and try to win from behind in the late game.)
Thursday: Shopping at Stanford Mall around lunch-time. Got a couple slacks and a pair of shorts and a leather jacket. Failed to be able to get to SF in time to see [livejournal.com profile] thatwesguy because mom and dad needed the cars, but they were going up to SF for a dinner party in the evening, so made it up to SF for [livejournal.com profile] laura47's party that night. Her boy, and CPB and Ole Doc, and a guy who works with [livejournal.com profile] algorithmancy, and some other people I knew more or less well.
Friday: Looked after niece and nephew for a bit during the day, then a GM meeting with Xian and ianY (probably not their permanent nicknames, if they get them, but I like the symmetry :-). GM meeting was fairly productive, and it was good to actually have one in person (if with only half the team), instead of doing everything electronically.
Saturday: BBQ at bakedweasels, with pretty much everyone ever that I might want to see in the SF area. (Blackfire's wife and kids didn't show, but other than that...). The Young'ns and the Old Fogies didn't mix all that much, but I think everyone had fun, anyway. And games into the night, although I didn't win any this time.
Sunday: Mostly just the flight back. Which I pretty much slept through, for extra-bonus destruction of my sleep schedule. And now it's early in the morning, and I should be getting up in six hours, and I'm not tired yet. Sigh. But perhaps I'll try to go to bed soon anyway.
