Snowed in in DC last weekend. Might have mentioned that. Watched much tv and many movies. Saw more comercials in 24 hours than I've seen in the previous 8 months. Go TiVo. Reviewed, for your entertainment pleasure:

Adaptation (in a movie theater, as the snow started): Mad movie about writing the screenplay to a movie, in fact, writing the screenplay to *this* movie. By the guy who wrote Being John Malkovitch, and surprisingly good for such a crazed concept. Up for best adapted screenplay and a best supporting actress for the person playing the author of the book it's adapting, who's a famous actress who's name I can't remember right now, but she's famous. Stars Nicholas Cage as twin screenwriters.

All About Eve: Classic bitchfest about new actress moving in on aging star. Not actually quite as bitchy as I remembered, but still quite good. Another Oscar winner.

The Simpsons 300th Episode 90 minute special. Funny, but nothing special I remember.

South Park, Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. Absolutely brilliant, if you haven't seen it, do, but it sounds like most of you saw it this weekend too. Cheated out of best picture oscar 'cause it's a cartoon, and 'cause it makes fun of the MPAA too much.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. The other Jimmy Stewart movie, probably an Oscar winner, but not sure. Quite good, if a little too black and white for me. (In the moral, rather than the cinematic, sense.) Ends kinda abruptly, too. John and I both sort of looked at each other and said "that's it?"

Michael Jackson interviews on ABC and NBC: Junk. He's junk, the interviews are junk, the whole things junk. We didn't actually watch these solidly, but switched back and forth between them and between:

Joe Millionaire, the finale. In which he chooses one, tells her he's a fraud, she sticks with him anyway (boo! without even telling him off much - but as John said, what else can she do?), and then the studio gives them a million dollars so she can't sue them for fraud. (Ok, they *said* it was "so the fairy tale can end with a little magic.") The ads for the live next episode with "their first reunion since they left the chateau" kinda summed up their chances as a couple.

Oh, and multiple hours of news coverage of the snowstorm, there being nothing else on several times, and not having the awesome power of the internet at my fingertips to find out just the information I wanted, when I wanted it, instead of having to watch an hour for 10 minutes of actually useful stuff (like airports and Metro closings).

Right, time to go watch BlackAdder. Later.
