First Week of Vacation!

Thursday early, drove down to Newport to my boss's brother's mansion. (Mansion = ~12 bedrooms, 7 or so bath, living room, dining room, entry hall, sitting room, tv room, 2x pool table rooms, lounging-by-the-pool room, plus the servants' quarters I've never been in and a couple more rooms on the second floor I forget about.) Hung about the mansion reading and swimming in the pool, and went antiqueing in Newport.
Did some more hanging about reading and swimming Friday, then up to Logan and flew to Seattle. Travel took most of my day, really, but that's alright. I read a little more, but mostly napped.

jdbakermn and special guest star brilit. Watched TV, played video games, and read. Sunday, did the same until we took brilit to the airport, then went to see Death at a Funeral. A fine farce, with a fairly constant funny value and only one or two bits that were beyond funny into painful, and one nice epiphany moment near the end. Not something I would have been likely to go to myself, but a good example of the genre. Lives 8 days of game before Dying at a Funeral.
Monday, flew down to San Jose. My aunt and uncle from Australia are visiting (well, one of the two sets of them), so hung around the house with them and mom and dad andbakedweasels and his kids.
Tuesday, went to the swimming pool with bakedweasels and the kids, then brought the kids home and down tocountertorque's for dinner with his family, merastra, izmirian, and ricedog. Wednesday, wandered around Stanford campus with Aunt and Uncle. The Rodin collection in the Stanford museum is quite impressive, and worth seeing. Today, hanging around the house with relatives again, so far. Going into SF to have dinner and see Avenue Q later.
All in all, very restful vacation. I approve. :-)
