Work was ok this week. Not good, not bad. Didn't get as much done as maybe I should have, but the receptionist was out all week so I was doing a lot of answering the phones instead, which I could at least use as an excuse.

Otherwise:

Monday: Centauri Meeting mostly punted. We were missing two gm's entirely and a third in spirit, so the three of us who were left puttered a bit and then wandered off. Oh well. I hear there was a writing meeting today that I missed, hopefully it was all productive.

Tuesday: Tarkanan - we continued to run from the hordes of savages and their Dragon masters. Made it past a bunch of them with sneaking, then fought one group of ~50, which wasn't fun but which we managed. It would have been easier to manage if we hadn't been saving strength for the Dragon that is bearing down on us, about to smite us. We'll see how that goes tomorrow...

Wednesday: Went to see 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, at the Wilbur. It was quite a fun show, although there's not much depth there at all, or even so much of a coherent story. It apparently evolved out of an improv sketch, and shows its origins. But the music is fun, if not hummable, and the story is kinda good, and even the kids who lose mostly get happy endings in the "what they did next" section. It was nicely localized for Boston, and the use of four audience members was well integrated (perhaps the most obvious left-over of the improv was the commentary introducing them as they got up to spell their words). The kid who was the last one of the audience members left was totally accurate when he said they were cheating to get rid of him, though. :-) Lives 10 days of game, but is only a character part.

Thursday: Ryuna - We failed to avert the invasion of Brundyseos, but we did at least give them some warning so the surprise attack was less successful than it would have been otherwise. And we failed to take the two goofs, so they're bound to be back as irritating goofs in the future, kinda like Jathras and company, but less friendly.

Friday: Flew to DC, and watched Battlestar Galactica season premier (or at least part of it), at the Professor and the Doctor's. It's a good show, but not having seen more than scattered episodes, they had to explain a bunch to me.

Saturday: Slept late, hung around for a while, then went to an early dinner with the Professor, the Doctor, a friend of theirs, and [livejournal.com profile] ironrat, followed by The Departed with just ironrat. The Departed was pretty darn good, as everyone in it can act, and there was a lot of cool stuff. I felt like it was a little too jumpy, there weren't any scenes that were quite long enough and quiet enough, and on further contemplation, I do think the ending was a little unsatisfying. Lives 9 days of game before someone else's plot kacks it after it's won, as ironrat put it.

Sunday: Went to the Maryland Renaissance Festival with the Legislative Director, the Instrumentologist, and his wife. It was sadly the wrong day to go. The weather was beautiful, but the day before had been terrible, and apparently everyone who'd wanted to go either day showed up, or something. There was a two hour traffic jam to get in, and it was totally packed once we actually got there. It is bigger than King Richard's, with way more food options, but I'm not sure if the stores were as good. (I might just not have spent as much time looking at stuff to buy, as none of the people I was with wanted to.) The shows were on par, although we missed the ones that were supposed to be really good. And the wandering shows that I remember from when I was a kid weren't there, although the Instrumentologist and the missus said they're normally there, and they were in the program, so maybe that was just a function of it being too crowded to send them out. Overall, it was a decent day, but not as good as I'd hoped. Came back and hit some bar for a couple of drinks (not me, but them), and then went back to the Professor's to catch the end of Desperate Housewives, and then argue about why Snape killed Dumbledore and other mysteries of the Potterverse.

Monday: Had lunch with ironrat and the Archangel. Hadn't seen the Archangel in ages, so it was good to see him. Next trip, though, I make him come into DC, as riding to the end of the Blue Line was Far. Then back to the Professor's, to give him a lesson in proper citation form for cases, then flew back to Boston. [Edit: Forgot to mention - ran into Mrs. Warlock at National on the way home, which was darn surprising. Apparently they live down there, who knew? Sometime, I'm going to have to throw a party when I visit DC to get all the people I'd vaguely like to see but never manage to prioritize seeing.] Walked about with [livejournal.com profile] mjperson, [livejournal.com profile] firstfrost, and Jelom for a bit, and now, to bed.
