Let's see: Monday, Vatican. I was late again, not sure why I've been late the last couple of weeks when work's been lighter, generally, but oh well. I should be on time tomorrow, at least. And I'm working on a sheet now, even, except for the updating-LJ part. Lost a starcraft game after I got home. Tuesday, D&D, giant plot dump run. We got both the grand arc of the run, and the set of missions for our next several runs, probably. Someone should remember to update [livejournal.com profile] ironrat. Wednesday, not so much. Having nothing officially planned, I dragged [livejournal.com profile] maverickseraph to Harvard Square to buy comic books and get dinner, then wandered home. Thursday, Lear's Daughter came over for a massage. (Yeah, yeah, he has an LJ account now, but I like Lear's Daughter as a nickname. :-) The new massage cream is probably better than the old oil I was using, I think, but I still haven't figured out how to do the new-move that the guy used on me the last time I got a massage. Friday, [livejournal.com profile] aaronf's going away dinner. Saturday, Episode III with [livejournal.com profile] marcusmarcusrc, and dinner at [livejournal.com profile] desireearmfeldt's, followed by getting crushed in a Puerto Rico game. All in all, a good week. My office manager thinks I have a crazily busy social schedule. My work has been slow and yet, I still should have done more this week. Oh well. :-/

So having finally seen Ep. III, I liked it. I thought it did what it needed to pretty well. But it somehow seemed less of a *star wars* movie than the last one did, and more of a decent-generic-action movie. I'm not sure at all how it managed to pull that off when it was steeped in the universe, but oh well. My co-watcher suggested perhaps there were too many quick cuts and trying to fit lots of stuff in, which could be true. I should go back and read all the other-people's-reviews I skipped when I hadn't seen it yet, now. Lives 8 days before being taken out of game in a light saber battle, but plays DIE WITH STYLE because IT IS STAR WARS AND TOTALLY UNKILLABLE!

Also read The Hallowed Hunt, by Lois McMaster Bujold. It took longer to grab me than her books often do, but I wound up reading the last 200 or so pages in the last 24 hours, so it apparently did get me in the end. I'm still less taken with the fantasy series than I am with the Miles books, but this one was a nice little bit by itself, and she does quite a nice job of confusing the issue about just what kind of trouble the bad guy is making. Lives 9 out of ten days of game before being taken up by the Gods as part of a gigantic ritual sacrifice.

I agree there was something less star wars-y about episode iii. Maybe it's also the focus on the love/frustration-ambition plot. Sure, there was overarching plots

I'll trade you your copy of Lost Christianities for your copy of The Hallowed Hunt...

I hope someone (that would be you) was taking notes. I think I broke my mouth with Linivus' bad Indian accent.
