tirinianSpent the week at my parents in California, while they were in Australia. It was the only week this summer that really worked for a vacation, but they already had plans to be gone, so that was a little weird. On the other hand, it was really nice. It was relaxed and no pressure and I had lunches with people I wanted to see (jdbakermn, kurgan, countertorque, HS-Indian-Friend and brother, ironrat, respectively, M-F), a pool party/board game thing at brother's on Saturday, and mostly relaxing at home otherwise. Also did an afternoon of wandering around SF with ironrat on Tuesday, and a day at WorldCon with ironrat and MardiGrasBoi on Friday.
WorldCon was the first con I've been to in forever, and surprisingly fun, given how out of touch with Fandom I feel. 3-4 amusing panels, a nice dealer's room, an ok art show. There's a rumor that DC will get one in a couple of years, and I'll probably try to go again if it is there.
Saw Disney's The Princess and the Frog on the plane home, which I'd never seen and was amusing, but not compelling. Call it 8 days of game before being eaten by Voodoo Shadows. Then saw Rampage, which was exactly what it looked like on the tin, but well done for that. Call it 7 days of game before being eaten by a Giant Monster, but you were planning not to play the second weekend anyway, so hey no biggie!
Week before that was so-so, better than the week of everything-canceling that I complained about last time, but not great. Don't remember it in enough detail to bother trying to say more than that.
