Two Month Update
Nov. 4th, 2018 11:48 pmWell, LARP season seems to have killed updating pretty thoroughly, between weekends at games and weekends where I have to finish PELs. But I've recently been reminded that I do like having this record to look at, so maybe I'll try and start it up again. Not going to do a full recitation of this week or anything, but what two months have been like:
Diet is a disaster, and I'm super fat, and need to get that back under control. Gym is barely hanging in there, but not good. Work is... super slow, but not actually that bad? My bosses are in the middle of a two month trial, and there just doesn't seem to be that much for me to do. At least, I don't feel like I'm *behind* so much as I feel like I'm *not doing much*. We'll see if I can get that beaten into shape soon.
I haven't seen much... I'm not sure I've been to a movie in two months, and I'm pretty sure the only theater was Kiss of the Spider Woman at the Lyric. I liked that one more than the Speakeasy one I saw a while ago - I think partly the actors were younger, and looked more the age of the characters? Not sure exactly, but it just worked better. It does have a certain '80's vibe to the handling of the gay character/relationship that I found more irritating this time, though. Call it 8.5 days of game before getting kissed by the Spider Woman. Have seen a couple of episodes of the new Dr. Who, and think she's very Doctor-y. And there's like four shows coming up in the next two weeks or so, including Hamilton, so I'll fix the lack of theater soon.
I haven't read much in the way of actual books, either, but I rediscovered ps238 as a webcomic, and binged the whole thing. I really enjoyed it as a comic book, but think it loses something in binging. It was still good enough that I reread it all, but it didn't seem to have quite the magic it had before. Possibly it's also that more people have done the same sort of thing since, possibly it's just that the pacing is slightly off somehow. I did think that the strips done as a pure webcomic, rather than pages of the comicbook posted to the web, worked better, and will keep reading it, although it seems to update very unreliably. Also binged through The Young Protectors, Engaging the Enemy, which I have had in queue for at least a couple years, and quite liked, and will read the sequel series sometime soon.
There's been a bunch of tabletop gaming, too, but I'm not going to try and figure out where that left off and what's happened in each of the runs since the last time I updated. So maybe I'll call this there, and start trying to do real-er updates again next week.
