Birthday Post!
Jan. 4th, 2015 07:27 amHave done basically no work, which is ok but not great as long as I work this week, and minimal "gym" (the cardio I've been doing isn't very intense at all, but there's probably been more of it than I'd have done at home). King of New York has been quite popular with the nephews, although the littlest is too little to play, and the oldest doesn't like "playing" with the middle one (who admittedly can't really play, although he's closer than I expected him to be). Lots of Oh Hell, too, and occasional other games, and some reading.
Other stuff (
bakedweasels, feel free to jump in with things I forgot):
Monday: Aunt G. and Uncle B. and their kids, kids spouses, and grandkids (the whole set together! I don't think I'd ever seen that before) came out for a BBQ. Weather wasn't as good for swimming, but it was fun anyway.
Tuesday: Hmm. Not sure I did much of anything? I probably did *something*. This might have been the day we went around to Clifton Beach, which has noticeably bigger waves than ours, but that wasn't very long, so there was probably something else, too...
Wednesday: NYE. Went up to Port Arthur and wandered around the ex-prison. The tour guide was somewhat too sympathetic to the jailers, for my taste. Then into town for NYE, on the waterfront at the Taste, with yummy food, siblings and their spouses to hang out with, two fireworks shows (9:30 and midnight), and a not-too-obnoxious DJ. Also amused to see at least a couple of same-sex-couples, which I would not have expected in Hobart.
Thursday: Brunch at Cousin N's place, with G.&B. and Cousin T's family.
Friday: bakedweasels' mother-in-law left. Don't remember what else we did.
Saturday: bakedweasels family left, so went to the airport with them, then down to Salamanca Market, then up to Cousin T's place for a night of board games with her family. Her son was more interested in board games last time I was here, but her daughter seems more interested in them now, he's more into video games. Or possibly he was just stressed about his IB results, and video games are more mindlessly relaxing.
Sunday: Woke up at Cousin T.'s, stayed there for breakfast and some Oh Hell, then went shopping with Sister's Eldest for birthday favors for my birthday party, then a bit of time on the beach with the kids, followed by Aunt G. and Uncle T. and Cousin M. and her daughters coming out and hanging out on the beach, then going to birthday dinner with them and dad's HSBF's widow and her sister.
Hmm. I will try and look at this again and see if I can figure out what was on the days I can't remember.
ETA: Oh right, Tuesday was the Hobbit movie. As long as you think of it as the prequel to the Lord of the Rings and not the Hobbit, it was pretty good, and you'll like it if you liked the others. I particularly liked the "rescue Gandalf" scene, which is only referenced in the appendices, I think. 8.5 days of game before dying with style riding an Eagle out of game.
