No real theme to the week...
Nov. 16th, 2009 12:14 amWork continues to have not-enough-short-term-deadlines for me to really feel comfortable with my productivity, but there have been more, and my boss seems to actually be focusing on some of the longer-term deadlines and setting a schedule for them, which would be awesome. We'll see if he keeps that up this week, or if he gets distracted by his shorter-term deadlines on cases I'm not involved in.
Other stuff:
Monday: Dinner with Germany, at the Burren, which I don't think I'd ever actually been inside before. It was fine-but-not-impressive pub food, with a decent atmosphere. Seeing Germany was good, as he's been offline recently, so we don't chat on IM much right now. Finished a bluesheet afterward.
Tuesday: Auria. Step one of the Become Gods magic rituals. If we do one every year of gametime, we could be Gods by 2016. Although my character doesn't actually know they're Become Gods rituals, and I'm not sure she wants to be a God.
Wednesday: Packet Handout for Final Fantasy, then to VBL for a bit, before I decided I was tired and going to bed early-ish. I was supposed to write another sheet, but didn't.
Thursday: GM Meeting. Was fine, mostly on scheduling stuff. Bought comics after, I think?
Friday: Went to see You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown with
justom, at the Central Square Y. This was a revised version of it from the first one I saw, and it adds a bunch more characters to be chorus, although the six from the original version of the show still get all the songs. I thought it made it much more Godspell-esque (which isn't bad, I like Godspell), but I'm not sure it really helped the show. I though Snoopy, Schroeder, and Sally were all quite good, was less happy with Charlie Brown and Lucy, although they were ok, and not really happy with Linus. Overall, Amusing but not Deep. Call it 7.5 days of game before, uhm... Ok, how the heck do you kill off peanuts characters? Afterward, stopped by the 5E party for a bit, but it was shockingly low on cruft, so chatted with the couple who were there briefly, talked to CPB for a bit, and caught the T home.
Saturday: Played Final Fantasy. "High Action" meant even closer to a SIK game than I had expected it to mean, and I'm really just too old to play a SIK game. But I pulled off my major plot, and got to be a Scary Black Mage a couple of times at the end, after hoarding my MP by running away from the monsters for most of game. Overall, I'm glad I played. But darn you,
gotspit, and your Nefarious Plans! I'll thwart you soon! Afterward, we took the in-town GMs out to Mary's, with a mob of mostly-frosh who coughed up Way Too Much Money, which seemed odd to me. Then I went to the MurderChurch party for a while, and failed to drag either
skuffle or GermanyChen with me. I *know* most people at MurderChurch parties, but it's more a 5E-cruft-with-some-guild crowd than a Guild-crowd-heavy-on-5E, so I don't know many of them well, and I was tired, so I mostly was anti-social.
Sunday: The Ides of November! It got a good turnout of undergrads, actually, but most of them were pretty quite, and I'm a little worried it was old-fogies talking to each other, without necessarily addressing the things the undergrads were interested in knowing about gamewriting. Still, *I* enjoyed the conversations. Then I failed to go to work, and just came home. Also, my ankle hurt from yesterday, but it seems to have mostly recovered now.
