Remember Remember on the First of November
Nov. 2nd, 2009 12:55 amWork continued to be quiet this week. I had a cold for a bit, which meant I stayed home for a while Thursday morning and was out of it most of Thursday and Friday, which made it even slower. But everyone should be back tomorrow, so hopefully it will pick up, and we'll be out of our temporary space and back into our real space soon. In other news:
Monday: Daredevil came over for a massage. Then to Where the Wild Things Are at the Somerville, with
firstfrost,
laura47, and her boy. I enjoyed the movie, although I felt like Max was too old to be acting out as badly as he was at the beginning of it (he looks ~9, but acts more like 4-5). Once he actually gets to the island, I enjoyed what they did with the Wild Things, although the skeletons were creepy. It's not the book, and not really even trying to be the book, but I only vaguely remember the book, so I'm ok with that. Lives 9 days of game before being eaten by Wild Things.
Tuesday: Auria was canceled, so ice cream with
skuffle (technically, hot vanilla with a scoop of cinnamon), then over to
mjperson's to use their computer and then join the crowd watching some of Avatar the Last Airbender, which was kind of amusing.
Wednesday: Dead Man's Cell Phone, at the Lyric. I was not a fan. Neither were most of the people there, I don't think. I think Sarah Ruhl is just more Modern than I am actually interested in.
visage described it as "dream logic", which I agree with, but that's not the only reason I found it wrong, 'cause I can like dream logic in a story. (Although perhaps I don't generally like it on stage.) Call it six days of game before dying of a heart attack.
Thursday: GM Meeting, which was fine, then swung by 4th WAR and got a Christmas Ornament from ... uhm, I don't have a nickname for him right now. I should probably come up with one... but I'm sleepy, so I'll do it some other time. Then comic shopping and home.
Friday: Ice cream and then Merry Wives of Windsor, at the Ensemble, with skuffle and
doma and
justom (the last just for the play, not the ice cream). It was ok, but more student-ish than several recent Ensemble shows I have seen, I think. Still, I liked Old Doc as Falstaff, and once I readjusted my expectations to "student performance", it was fine. Call it 7.5 days of game, before being pinched to death by fairies. After, doma and I stopped by Ole Doc's cast party briefly, where I said hi to Mardi Gras Boy but mostly hung out with doma.
Saturday: Work and then Germany's Housewarming. Only saw one set of trick or treaters, but some of the people at the Housewarming were in costume, and there were a few others wandering around before/after the party. Cleverly left the candy at Germany's, so none around the house today. :-)
Sunday: Conflux Run 100! Got Putin's Nazgul ring off him, then he tried to talk us into giving it back. We are currently divided over whether we'd rather try to give it back to him and buy him off, or whether we'd rather get the Elf who told us there were rings scattered among the human leaders on our side instead.
