Quiet Week, kind of grumpy
Oct. 18th, 2009 11:03 pmI finally finished the big thing I was working on at work, and got it filed. Now to see how long the next big thing takes me.
Tuesday: Worked a little late on the big thing, then went to the GaMIT 40th anniversary thing for a while. They had a speaker from each 'decade', and it was sort of interesting that the '90's were the decade that the speaker said was hardest. I do kind of wonder how much that's a speaker-selection issue, more than an actual change in how the decades were. Then came home and had Guy's Night In, instead of going to Guys' Night Out, because it was late-ish and I was feeling grumpy.
Wednesday: Made up for missing Guys' Night Out by going to
brilit's for a while and getting whipped at Lost Cities (although I managed to pull it together for the third set of games), and then having ice cream with
ilhander and
mjperson.
Thursday: Left work feeling grumpy again, went and bought comics, then went back downtown to the gym. Then home and early to bed.
Friday: Went to see The Donkey Show at the ART with CPB and the MBA. It's a disco retelling of Midsummer Night's Dream, with the audience playing the part of the disco club attendees (there was a bar serving drinks throughout, and you were encouraged to be dancing) while the actors move around the dance floor through you, followed by spotlights and mostly singing along with the various songs to tell the story. (I don't think there were any of Shakespeare's actual lines at all, although there were some spoken lines.) It was definitely interesting, and I'm pleased I went, but I don't *like* disco clubs, so the attraction of that part was kind of lost on me. Although the guys in hot pants and glitter were fun to watch dance during the pre-show. Call it 8.5 days of game, and good enough that I'll try Sleep No More too, which is their other Exploded Shakespeare show, sometime in the next couple of months. Then went to
baniszew's birthday party for a while.
Saturday: Dragon run, in which we got names for a couple of bad guys, and found out what's been bugging our friendly spy NPC. Then post run dinner at Uno's, which was covered in Balloons for some reason, then home, to complain about being grumpy to Germany on IM.
Sunday: Sat at home and watched tv and played starcraft and chatted with
jdbakermn in IM. I had some errands I'd planned to do, but failed. Mostly due to the weather being terrible more than being grumpy, though. And now
firstfrost and
harrock are home, so that's good, yay!
