Friday was really good. Work was a mess. I got in late, discovered I'd messed up a deadline and have stupid things to do next week to get in late that I thought I had two weeks to get in on time, and was completely unproductive otherwise. Eventually, I just gave up about 3 and left. I swung by the midway, which was fine, but not particularly exciting, and then went to see Arcadia with 'nJ. It wasn't something we'd been planning, I just called him when work was being terrible and suggested we do something, and he was both free and excited to be doing something with me, and that was really nice. Arcadia was quite good, although occasionally hard to hear over the crickets (it was an outdoor production), and I'm now covered in mosquito bites, but all in all, I was most pleased. Props to [livejournal.com profile] marcusmarcusrc for recommending it. Lives 9.5 days of game, before escaping a duel and burning to death in a fire. And we ran into an acquaintance of mine from college (*my* college :-), which was kind of cool. After, we went to IHOP for dinner, which turned out to be exactly what I wanted, although I hadn't realized it until we got there (it was mostly just close and open after the play ended). After I got home, I called [livejournal.com profile] jdbakermn and talked to him for a while, and that was good, too.

Saturday was a dinner party at [livejournal.com profile] desirearmfeldt's. Yummy home cooked food and hanging about with friends, then wandering around the neighborhood, getting ice cream, and eventually settling at twinknj for a while to chat more. [livejournal.com profile] mjperson has been leading walks and ice cream trips a lot recently. It's been good to see him more than I've been seeing him in ages, but perhaps it's time to start making it just walks, and less ice cream, as I've definitely put on weight in the last couple of weeks. (Not just from that - I've been eating more and getting to the gym less, in general. Need to fix that, starting next week.)

Today was [livejournal.com profile] cshiley's housewarming party. It was mostly watching people play poker, actually, but that's fun for a while, and there was chatting about MTG to break it up occasionally. I need to come up with a plan to see Sweeney. Probably next Friday. Before the housewarming, there was an Amara run, which was actually much more sane than most of them have been. I'm not quite sure why, but the fights were challenging without being gross, and the party managed to keep the sniping and foolishness down to reasonable levels.

Before that, let's see: Thursday: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a lot of fun. My major critique would be that Wonka seemed to be just-crazy, not crazy-like-a-fox. Still, lives 9 days of game before drowning in a chocolate river. Wednesday was a mini-Conflux run, all about talking to someone and getting some more background on how-the-world-really-works, damn it. Informative, but we still don't have a good feel for how to save the world, and it looks like our deadline may be down as low as six months. Monday and Tuesday, I was at work late, getting the thing ready for Wednesday.

I should probably write a rant about work sometime, if only to compose my thoughts on how it's going, but not tonight, 'cause it's already late.

In other news, ran into Tangri on the T on the way back from our Vatican meeting. He's in town briefly, before going to Venezuala for two weeks to research AIDS expenditures, and then off to India indefinitely, so it was nice to run into him. We grabbed food at Anna's, and chatted for half an hour or so. It's weird how easy it is to talk to someone I haven't seen regularly in over a decade. I suppose knowing him since I was seven accounts for part of that.

I wonder how Roberts is going to do as chief justice. And who the other candidate will be. It would have been funnier if he'd re-nominated Sandra Day for Chief. Oh well.
