Back in Boston (barely)
Dec. 14th, 2003 10:12 pmFour days in DC, and not much to say about them. Spent two nights with First Crush, and one with First Boyfriend. (FC handed me off to FB last night, because he was going to the Redskins/Dallas game today, and not going to be able to entertain me.) Mostly just quiet time hanging out with them, dinner and shopping and going to the gym. It was all good, but nothing worth telling. Friday, the actual excuse for my trip, going to see the expert witness, went pretty well. Oh, and the three of us went to see Camelot at the Arena Stage Friday night, which was a lot of fun, although I think I liked it more than the other two.
The trips down and back were actually more exciting, in some ways. Going down, I spent an hour in the airport sitting next to two Lieberman Campaign workers, listening to them spin various stories on the phone. It was "check email - call someone - spin - check email" in about a five minute cycle for the whole hour. Then we got on the plane, and it was tiny. One seat on one side of the aisle, two on the other. Who knew they flew things that size to DC. And then, as it was getting ready to take off, they came on, took someone off, and replaced her with someone else. All very mysterious.
On the way back, it wasn't so much mysterious as aggravating. Got to the airport early, 'cause Schteiffun decided he was busy, and wasn't going to amuse me for the last couple of hours I was there after all. Turned out to be a good thing, because when I got there, they told me my flight was canceled, but I was early enough they could get me on to the earlier one. They managed that, but the flight still left about forty minutes late, and then circled Boston for over an hour before landing, (the plane actually got as far as putting down landing gear on one pass, before pulling back and circling again for a while), and then made us wait half an hour or more at the gate before they deplaned us. And then took another forty minutes to get us our luggage. Grr. Ok, the weather sucks, but still.
And now I'm home, in a mysteriously empty house. (I think Eva's here, but she's hiding in her room, and no one else seems to be home.) Maybe I'll go to bed. But first, catching up on email.
