First in the weekend of plays tonight. Two Lives, at the Lyric. Quite good, the best thing they've done all season and up there with the best things I've ever seen there. Of course, they brought in a bunch of ringers from New York to help pull it off, but whatever. (Including the guy who was the Narrator/Old Man in Into the Woods as the Star! Joe got his autograph.) I think the play could use a slight amount of polishing, but that's what pre-Broadway runs are for, right? (I don't know if this is the actually performance that's going to Broadway, but it's certainly being talked about as a show that's on its way there.)

Chess was reasonably good. The ending really does just disappear into a confused muddle, though. Sigh. I dunno if the original was really less confused, but it *sounds* better, so why not just go with that?

Then again, I like the original of Merrily We Roll Along better, too, and I'm never going to get to see that again, I'm pretty sure.

In other news, tomorrow is "clean the office day." No suit for me!
