Company on Memory Lane

Tonight was good. I got, out of the blue, a phone call from a friend from High School (the Armenian), to give me his address and phone number at his "new" place in Ann Arbor. I'm pretty sure I hadn't talked to him in two years or more, but it was good to know he still thinks of me occasionally. (I'd sent him email with my new address, apparently, so I was vaguely ahead on points. :-) We chatted for half an hour or so, and it was really nice. (Hey [livejournal.com profile] izmirian, do you still keep in touch with your high school girlfriend at all? She apparently has a son in elementary school, who's taking classes from the Armenian's little sister! I took such stun damage...)

And then I went to closing night at Campus/Manray, before it turns into condos. I vaguely knew it was closing, but would have forgotten totally if I hadn't been invited out by 123 and Kosh, so I went out with them and some friends (including the Gladhander), and actually quite enjoyed it. I still don't drink, dance much, or enjoy loud rooms where it's hard to talk, so Campus still isn't somewhere I'd want to go often (good thing, 'cause it's closing), but 123 and Kosh actually spent a while in the quietest, non-dancing room talking and introducing me to people before they went dancing, and that was fun. And I ran into someone I knew that I hadn't come with (Lady Vol), which was also cool. All in all, most pleasing, and well worth not doing three-movies-in-a-row at the Boston Common this afternoon/evening, which I'd seriously considered. (More on that in a week in review this weekend, I expect, but now, it's late, and I'm going to sleep.)

I think I actually met her son at her house one christmas when he was younger (I guess I was younger too :), but no, I haven't really kept up with her.
